Upright Guards

Upright Guards are protective components designed to shield individual uprights from damage caused by forklifts or other material handling equipment. By preventing issues such as denting or bending — which can compromise the load-bearing capacity of the rack — these guards help preserve structural integrity, extend rack lifespan, reduce maintenance costs, and improve overall safety.

How are they Useful?
  • In facilities with frequent forklift or other equipment used, particularly in high-impact areas, Upright Guards are highly recommended. They not only protect new installations but also help prevent further damage to uprights that may already have minor scratches, reducing long-term risks and repair expenses.
  • Please note that these guards do not protect damaged uprights at all. If your uprights are damaged, you must unload all your goods, clear the area and immediately contact your supplier for inspection and replacement.

  • Each frame requires 2 Upright Guards. Therefore, 1Main Bay requires 4 Upright Guards, while 1 Add-on Bay requires 2.
  • For exposed front-facing areas where handling equipment is most active, Upright Guards cannot be used; in these zones, Frame Guards are recommended to provide effective protection against collisions.

Upright Guards are positioned at high-risk zones where collisions are most likely to occur. Typically, one guard per upright is used to cover all exposed points. The exact number required depends on the bay configuration and the intensity of equipment movement in that area, ensuring both safety and durability.

  • U-Shaped Upright Guard — Suitable when the first beam level is positioned at 200 mm or higher. This type of guard is installed offset from the upright so that the load beam does not interfere with the guard.
  • L-Shaped Upright Guard — Suitable when the first beam level is placed at 400mm or higher. This guard is installed flush with the upright, meaning the load beam cannot pass through that guard and must be positioned above 400mm only.
