A Top Tie Beam is a horizontal profile that connects the top ends of upright frames in a pallet racking system. While it does not support pallet loads, it plays a structural role by enhancing the rigidity and stability of the overall rack installation.

  • How are they Useful?
    •  Top Tie Beams help prevent upright frames from swaying or leaning, particularly in the down-aisle direction. This added stability is important for tall or deep racking systems and is also a consideration in seismic environments*.
(*Our racks are not designed for seismic zones. This information is for reference only. For racks engineered specifically
for seismic conditions, please contact our parent company, Jay Storage Solutions)
  • Where are they Installed?
    • Top Tie Beams are fixed horizontally at the very top of upright frames, bracing two frames from adjacent bays together. Unlike load beams, they do not carry loads but serve a critical role in ensuring structural rigidity.
  • Important:
    • Top Tie Beams are mandatory when rack height is 4,500 mm or greater, regardless of depth. They must be installed between adjacent bays with a spacing of 2,000 mm to 3,500 mm, adjustable to suit layout preferences. If the first bay run is supported against a wall, Top Tie Beams are still required for all subsequent bay runs.
  • How Many Top Tie Beams do you need?:
    • Top Tie Beams are installed across alternate frames in a run of bays. For example, a row of 5 bays (consisting of 6 frames: 2 frames from the Main Bay and 1 from each Add-on Bay) will require 3 Top Tie Beams.
  • What will I get in my order?
    • Each Top Tie Beam is supplied unassembled, along with all components required to complete the unit in the quantity ordered. The package includes all necessary hardware and fasteners for installation. In addition, a warranty notice, a user manual,
and a safety and inspection manual are provided with every order. No extra items or hardware is provided.
    • Installation support — Should you require assistance, our team is available to guide you through the installation process. Simply contact us, and we will respond at the earliest convenience.
  • What is not included in my order?:
    • Please note that no PPE or safety gear is included with this product. Tools required for assembly, such as hammers or spanners, are not provided. Any components or accessories shown in the product images are for illustration purposes only and are not part of the order. Items not specifically listed above are not included.
    • Additionally, when placing an order for racks through the configurator, top ties are not automatically provided. They must be added to your order separately.
  • The installation of a single guard typically requires two people and takes approximately 10-15 minutes. With experience, the installation time can be reduced further.
